To accelerate its transformation from an asset-heavy construction enterprise to a technology R&D and service provider, Xinjiang Kunlun Petroleum Group’s Engineering Technology Research Institute has completed its system setup, forming a research framework of a Beijing-headquartered academy with three institutes and one center — the Drilling Engineering Research Institute, the Reservoir Stimulation Research Institute, the New Energy Research Institute, and the Big Data & Intelligence Center — to coordinate the Group’s technical R&D efforts.
Focusing on practical challenges at oilfield sites, the Institute prioritizes key R&D projects including information system upgrades, downhole power equipment development, rotary steerable drilling research, drilling-production integrated platforms, and digital system integration. It connects the full chain of solution optimization, process upgrading and on-site results transformation, building a solid core technology barrier.
Committed to innovation-driven development, the Group will actively apply over the next three years for high-tech enterprise certification, autonomous regional enterprise technology center status, and specialized SME qualifications, while building an industry-academia-research collaborative innovation model. Technological innovation will drive service quality and efficiency, advancing traditional oilfield services toward intelligent and digital upgrading, and empowering oil and gas reserve and production growth with technology.
